As for the name of this blog, Unique Ropecraft is simply a name that I thought sounded cool. As for its creator, I started tying decorative knot projects when I stumbled upon internet sites that used paracord for creating lanyards. As a hunter/outdoorsman from Alabama, the survival aspect of paracord interested me so I created this blog to show my progress because I felt that many of the sites that show paracord creations are mainly trying to sell their work. I believe that if you want to tie a bracelet or lanyard you should have the information available to do so.

As for the material I use to tie my projects, it will always be paracord. Paracord is parachute cord (also 550 cord) a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of US parachutes during World War II. Once in the field, paratroopers found this cord useful for many other tasks. It is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians. This versatile cord was even used by astronauts during STS-82, the second Space Shuttle mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope.

Also you may notice throughout this blog that I title each post as "Unique..", I use the term "unique" loosely and the projects on this blog are "unique" to me and maybe not the internet world.

I enjoy massing all the information I can so that I will know as much as I can on subjects that I find interesting. Once I find something that I think is unique or hard to find I will be adding it to this blog along with some unique-to-me projects.
